In order to specialize the publication of articles and reviews of the Faculty of Theology and Islamic Studies of the University of Tehran, the establishment of a specialized journal of Fiqh and Fundamentals of Islamic Law (former articles and reviews) with a scientific-research degree by the Commission for the Review of Publications of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology in History It was announced on 10/22/1388 through notification No. 11/3/1741. From this year, the Faculty of Theology and Islamic Studies publishes two quarterly journals of jurisprudence and fundamentals of Islamic law every year in two parts (spring and summer) and (autumn and winter) from among hundreds of received articles and selecting the best articles.
The Journal of Jurisprudence and the Fundaments of the Islamic Law is a scholarly, peer-reviewed academic journal published under the supervision of the Faculty of Theology and Islamic Studies, University of Tehran. The journal was established with the mission of developing and deepening specialized research in the fields of Jurisprudence and Islamic Law, analytic Jurisprudence, and Law, and it serves as an official venue for the publication of original, rigorously refereed research in these areas. Relying on an editorial board composed of subject-matter specialists, the journal accepts for publication manuscripts that meet established standards of scholarly originality, argumentative rigor, and methodological precision. The journal is published on a biannual basis and operates under an open-access model. To ensure academic quality, all submissions undergo a double-blind peer-review process. The journal is published by University of Tehran Press, and is based in Tehran, Iran. The official language of the journal is Persian; The journal welcomes original research articles. Interested scholars may submit their manuscripts through the journal’s online submission system, in accordance with the author guidelines, after registering on the journal’s website.
Journal History
The Journal of Jurisprudence and the Fundaments of the Islamic Law was established as part of the structural reorganization process of the journal Maqālāt va Barrasī-hā (Articles and Reviews). For many years, Maqālāt va Barrasī-hā functioned as the sole scholarly research journal of the Faculty of Theology and Islamic Studies, University of Tehran. In 2009, with the aim of increasing disciplinary specialization and enhancing academic quality, the journal was reorganized and divided into several independent journals. One of the journals that emerged from this process was the Journal of Jurisprudence and the Fundaments of the Islamic Law, which has since been dedicated to the publication of original, peer-reviewed research in the fields of Jurisprudence, Islamic Law,, , and other related areas of inquiry.
Editorial Board
The Editorial Board of the Journal of Jurisprudence and the Fundaments of the Islamic Law bears primary responsibility for safeguarding the journal’s scholarly integrity, ensuring compliance with publication ethics standards, and maintaining the overall quality of published works. The Board operates in accordance with the policies and guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and is committed to the principles of impartiality, academic meritocracy, and the preservation of research integrity and ethical soundness. The Editorial Board has the following executive roles: 1) Final approval: Articles are published after peer review and upon final approval by the Editorial Board. 2) Policy guidance: The Editor-in-Chief acts in accordance with the policies established by the Editorial Board. 3) Safeguarding academic integrity: The Editorial Board upholds and protects the scholarly integrity and academic record of the journal.

Archive Policy: Since the stablishment of the Journal, it has stored all its articles in the Journal's internal archive, making them accessable to everyone. the Journal long term policy is to protect the content.
Timelines and Efficiency: The initial editorial screening of submitted manuscripts typically takes approximately 10 days, and the average duration of the full peer-review process is around 8 weeks.
Article Publication Fee: According to the decision of the Faculty of Theology and Islamic Studies, if a submitted article receives initial approval, a fee of 2,000,000 Iranian Rials is charged for the evaluation process. Upon final acceptance, an additional fee of 4,000,000 Iranian Rials is charged for editing and formatting. It's worth noting that if an article is rejected by the reviewers, the initial fee of 2,000,000 Iranian Rials is non-refundable.

The average time for peer review and publication of the article: The average time from the initial submission of the article to reviewer evaluation and revisions by the authors is 16 weeks (4 months), and it takes up to 24 weeks (6 months) until the publication of the article.
